Goal of Oklahoma Tech Prep
Increase the number of Oklahoma CTE students who complete high school with college credit, pursue and complete a post-secondary credential, an industry recognized certificate or degree and are employed in the field in which they were prepared.

Four Focused Strategies
Oklahoma Tech Prep aims to achieve these goals through four focused strategies which include:

  • Implementation of high-tech, high-wage, high-demand career majors utilizing the career cluster framework that support local industry clusters in economic development and wealth generation, and create seamless “fast-track” transitions from 11th and 12th grade to associate and baccalaureate degrees

  • Providing student opportunities through preparatory services that include:
        Comprehensive education and career planning
        Awareness of student opportunities
        Academic Assessment
        Career and Technical Assessment
        Student Transitions success

  • Providing targeted professional development for:
        Teachers, Faculty and Administrators
        Counselors

  • Identification of quality local data to meet accountability measures, benchmark progress, evaluate programs and implement needed change

A Tech Prep Student Is..
Secondary Tech Prep Student – a student who has enrolled in two courses in the secondary education component (designated and approved career major) of a tech prep program.
Postsecondary Tech Prep Student – a student who has completed a secondary education component (designated and approved career major) of a tech prep program and has enrolled in the postsecondary education component of a tech prep program at an institution of higher education

The Tech Prep Coordinator plays a vital role in the success of a Tech Prep Consortium, but more importantly in the success of students. Here are some of the resources that you will need for success. Please feel free to use what you wish and provide us with ideas for more innovative ways to help "Provide Seamless Transitions."
