               OTEA Members

FROM:  Kevin Terronez, Tim Dennis, Larry Bullock, Jim Bullington, Orville Manuel, Janet Faken, Jeff Huffman and H.L. Baird

SUBJECT:    Back to School Information

I hope each of you have a smooth start to a new school year.  The purpose of this memo is to share information with you concerning upcoming events, missed information at Summer Conference, and information in general.  I would like to thank each of you for your professionalism and participation at Summer Conference.   Also, a big thank you to all presenters, Tulsa Public Schools, and especially Jolynn Pemberton, for hosting us at Whitney Middle School-Tulsa.

Item#1—Email Addresses

If I do not have your current email address, you will not receive any TSA, or program information from us.  I will notify you by email to hit our web page and download this important information.   The TSA web page will have the Membership Affiliation (after September 1st), Event Calendar, Degree Programs and other information posted.  You can go to the TSA web page at www.okcareertech.org/teched/tsa/oktsa.htm

Item#2—Salary and Teaching Schedule

All of you should have started your on-line Salary and Teaching Schedules.  If not go to the link on the Technology Education web site.  They are due in the office by September 30, 2006.  The correct class codes are in the pull down menu look for 8595 and up.

Please check to make sure your classes are coded properly.  If you are teaching a seven period day, you will need five classes of Technology Education, a possible related class and a planning period.  If you are teaching a six period day, you will need to list four classes of Technology Education, a possible related class and a planning period.

This is no longer a separate report.  Data elements will be collected in the CESI report.

Item#5—Grants

Due to the raise in incentive assistance money there will be no CareerTech grants.

Item#6—Fall Teachers Meeting

This year there will be no OTEA Fall Teachers Meeting during the OEA teachers meetings but there will be a few workshops going on in different areas please watch the web for a list of these.

Item#7—Other Conferences

We will be having the Mid-Winter Conference again this year sponsored by OTEA.  We will also be providing other in-service opportunities.  I would encourage you to participate in some of these activities as they become available.  The participants in workshops we provided last year were very complementary and felt with the in-depth in-service provided (not just 45 minutes), they were more likely to implement what they learned in their programs.  If you have the chance to participate in one of the in-services throughout the year, I would encourage you to do so. TSA leadership conferences are October 25th at Weatherford and October 26th at Tahlequah this year.  State TSA conference is April 3-5, 2007 in Oklahoma City.

Item#8—Individual Learning Plan

As of today, I have only received a few plans.  If you would, as soon as possible, please take the time and submit this plan.  Go to our home page www.okcareertech.org, go to agency division, Technology Education, scroll down to professional development, and follow instructions to complete and submit plan.  We will use this data to offer training throughout the year.

Remember to submit your CESI information on-line as you did last year. The due date this year is October 30, 2006. If you will go to our web site www.okcareertech.org/imd/CESI.htm, click CESI Report.   Then follow on screen instructions to complete and submit the report.  This is crucial information that is used daily.  Make sure you input all your first semester students and then follow-up with second semester students, or you can input all students at once if you know this information.    Please do your best to report all of your students.

Item#10—National Conferences and a Regional Conference
