Product Design Training Opportunity and A Donation of $900,000 in 3D CAD software for each Teacher PTC (Parametric Technology Corporation) has generously offered to donate 300 licenses of Pro/ENGINEER Wildfire 4.0 Schools Edition for each of your programs. Each license is worth $3,000. The total donation is valued at $900,000 per teacher! The licenses are perpetual and all upgrades will be provided for free. The software may be used in class or at home, at the teacher's discretion. All curriculum materials will be provided for free. In order to take advantage of this offer, a two-day training session has been scheduled for October 6-7 at Francis Tuttle-Portland Campus. Additional training will be included on the use of Windchill, PTC's web-based collaboration tool that will be instrumental in linking schools with mentors from the US DOE National Labs and industry. Windchill facilitates the collaboration and management of Pro/ENGINEER CAD designs so that geography is no longer a limiting factor in collaboration. Windchill is a tool used by product designers in large organizations that do Global Engineering. Some of PTC's customers that use Windchill for Global Engineering include the Department of Defense, NASA, DOE, LG Electronics, and Boeing. You will learn how to teach students to do Global Engineering using Pro/ENGINEER and Windchill, collaborate with mentors from government and industry and develop the capacity to compete in the DOE's Real World Design Challenge.
