| The T&I New Teacher Academy is offered as an orientation to new teachers or
teachers reentering the system after an extended absence, for the purpose of reviewing
successful teaching strategies and techniques, updating teachers on recent developments in
safety, educational technology, legal issues, and effective teaching research. The Academy covers, in abbreviated form, the topics and objectives which are presented in the "Basic T&I 15" college credit hours required for all T&I teachers, and is (generally) conducted in Stillwater at the Oklahoma Department of Career and Technology Education. See Map for locations.) The Academy is comprised of new teachers from all divisions of career and technology education and follows the agenda determined by the New Teacher Academy planning committee. During breakout sessions, when T&I teachers meet with other T&I instructors, T&I staff, and teacher educators from the institutions in Oklahoma approved to offer a degree in T&I Education, the agenda topics will be covered as time allows. This academy is a great lead-in to Summer Conference The T&I staff and teacher educators will offer additional academies in September and January for teachers who are hired after or otherwise unable to attend the July Academy. Follow-up days will be mandatory and spaced throughout the school year. |
