AUTO SERVICE TECHNOLOGY

This program is designed to train students to service and repair passenger and light commercial vehicles. Areas of specialization in any of several technical areas: brake repair, steering and suspension repair, automatic transmission/transaxle repair, engine performance, electrical systems, air-conditioning service, manual drive train and axles, and engine repair.

Instructional activities include shop safety procedures, tool usage, nomenclature and the use of reference materials. Instructional mockups, the very latest diagnostic equipment and simulated learning models are used to supplement learning activities.

Specific instruction is given in troubleshooting and use of testing equipment. Additional instruction given in work safety and leadership development. At least 50% of class time is devoted to hands-on experience with hand tools and engine components.
