The System Design and Computer Support division provides design and implementation of information systems, training, and technical assistance to individual users and divisions in the application of computer technology to assist the department to meet its stated goals and objectives.

The System Design and Computer Support staff provides Information Technology infrastructure, software, peripheral products, and services necessary for success in your position at the Oklahoma Department of Career and Technology Education.

The SDCS staff members are assigned to the following work units: Network Services, Security, Open Source Applications Development, User Services, Training, and Computer Support.

Network Services. The ODCTE IT infrastructure is based on a variety of network technologies. Microsoft file and print services are made available through Ethernet and wireless networks. Virtual Private Network (VPN) provides staff with secure remote access to network resources, and Office 365 is used for calendaring and staff email accounts. The computer network is the backbone of all agency applications and is used in some form or fashion for virtually every activity at ODCTE.

Security. Security efforts are focused on creating a safe and secure computing environment for ODCTE. Basically, keeping the “bad guys” out of the agency's IT infrastructure and minimizing the downtime users may experience from attacks while protecting the agency’s information resources and safeguarding the confidential information entrusted to our care. The SDCS provides modern security policies and practices, security awareness training, ongoing security monitoring, and security issue resolution.

Applications Development. The programmers and development staff develop, implement, and manage software applications that support the mission and vision of CareerTech. The application development staff provides customized Microsoft and Open Source software solutions used by staff within the agency and in the field.

NTT Data. Senate Bill 583 requires OMES to initiate an RFP for the ongoing maintenance of desktop support and management systems for all state agencies. OMES partnered with NTT Data to be our DaaS provider. NTT is an industry leader in managed workplace services. They have over 2,800 employees in Oklahoma and understand the needs of the state. DaaS will improve support response times and enable us to better and more efficiently serve Oklahomans. DaaS is a delivery model that supports enterprise hardware and delivers end-to-end lifecycle services. DaaS will be combined into the desktop rate you currently pay.

Additional information can be found here, DaaS(Device as a Service) Resource Page.

Training. The computer and software training program is provided as a value-added service for agency staff. The program is designed to improve staff efficiency and effectiveness with the standard computer equipment and software packages used in the course of completing the agency’s work.

Computer Support. Computer Support is a single point of contact for all of the agency’s IT resources. The help desk is staffed 24/7/365 for your support needs. The goal is to provide the help needed to solve problems quickly and prevent them from reoccurring. For immediate support needs and assistance use the OMES IS Portal page located at
