Programming and Software Development
This major prepares students to research, design, develop and test systems-level software. Students implement and write programs using Java, Visual Basic and/or other dynamic programming languages to create event-driven programs. They use the Unified Modeling Language (UML) and software patterns to improve software development along with Computer-Aided Software Engineering (CASE) tools. Students learn to analyze and test software to maximize productivity through sound, reliable and repeatable processes. Students gain skills required for the Sun Certified Java Associate (SCJA) certification.
