Students will learn uses of and have hands-on application of computer-assisted translation systems which provide realtime translation on video monitors in court and deposition settings, on monitors in classroom and lecture settings, and for closed captioning of television programs. Students will learn requirements for certification in each of these areas.

Beginning Speedbuilding
-Understand how to set up equipment and software for realtime uses.
-Understand how to write on the steno machine to produce realtime translation.
-Understand the requirements for certification in each area of realtime application.
Realtime court reporting software installed in a lab setting obtained from one of the major suppliers such as Stenograph, ProCat, Eclipse, Digital Cat, etc.
