Housing and Home Environments II
Housing and Home Environments II is a specialized course designed to prepare students to understand the influences affecting both residential and commercial decisions. This course is a continuation of Housing and Home Environments I, but does not require I as a prerequisite for the course. Instruction will focus on space planning and functionality, finishing materials, furniture styles and functions, design and presentation.

Housing and Home Environments I preferred
-Students will demonstrate leadership, citizenship, and teamwork skills required for success in the family, workplace, and global community. (FCCLA, professional image)

-Students will evaluate living spaces for functionality.
(circulation patterns, specific recommendations for kitchens, bedrooms, living areas, & bathrooms)

-Students will investigate building and finishing materials for both residential and commercial design including sustainable building principles.
(flooring, walls, doors and windows, roofs, lighting, laminates and solid surfaces, textiles)

-Students will identify furniture styles, features and functions for both residential and commercial design. (history of architecture and furniture)

-Students will demonstrate the ability to use computers in graphic design.
(reading and drawing of residential floor plans)

-Students will demonstrate the use of space planning principles in the design of residences. (design board, renderings, perspective drawing, graphic communication techniques, model building and presentation)

-Students will explore career paths within the housing, interiors and furnishings industries.
