Portfolio Development
Portfolio Development in Early Care in Education is a course design to assist students in designing an early childhood professional portfolio. The course combines classroom instruction with lab experience to develop needed items to complete requirements for the CDA credential. The course will allow students the opportunity to experience first hand what it is like to work with children in group settings. The course also gives the students a basis for the understanding of the CDA credentialing process.

-Demonstrate their ability to develop a portfolio that is reflective of their work in early care and education.
-Discuss and understand statements of competence.
-Recognize attributes of a child care professional.
-Develop appropriate activities for infants and toddlers
-Develop appropriate activities for preschool age children.
-Understand the correct procedures for evaluating children's books
-Determine how to choose music for young children.
-Demonstrate their ability to work with young children by
completing hand-on-projects assigned by teacher in lab setting.
