Advanced Transtibial Prosthetics
The student will use knowledge and principles learned in previous courses to fabricate a pediatric symes prosthesis, a thermal plastic BK prosthesis with flexible inner liner and rigid frame and a partial foot prosthesis. Utilizing an understanding of material strengths and alignment, the student will also make repairs and perform general maintenance on prosthetic components.

Upon completion of this course, the student will be able to:

-Demonstrate ability to disassemble, clean and reassemble 3r15 knee unit.
-Demonstrate ability to disassemble, clean and reassemble True Step Foot.
-Demonstrate ability to disassemble, clean and reassemble shuttle lock.
-Demonstrate ability to disassemble, clean and reassemble knee joint for a corset.
-Demonstrate ability to fabricate a bench aligned thermal plastic rigid frame with flexible inner socket.
-Demonstrate ability to fabricate a bench aligned symes prosthesis.
-Demonstrate ability to fabricate partial foot prosthesis and fit into a shoe.
-Read about the Symes amputation and the prosthetic designs suitable for it.
-Identify the different levels of partial foot amputation.
-Fabricate parital foot prosthesis.
