"The student will demonstrate an understanding of such skills as maintaining the examination area, performing clinical lab tests, venipuncture, microhematocrit, twelve lead electrocardiograph (ECG), drug calculation, and medication administration. An emphasis is placed on the patient's physical examination and treatment procedures that are performed in a medical office setting."

Clinical Procedures II
Course Objectives are as follows:
1. Demonstrate how to prepare a patient for a venipuncture.
2. Demonstrate how to properly perform a venipuncture.
3. Prepare a patient for electrocardiography, operate an electrocardiograph (ECG), eliminate artifacts, mount, and label an ECG.
4. Assist with and/or perform body system examinations and appropriate clinical procedures for the circulatory system.
5. Assist with and/or perform body system examinations and appropriate clinical procedures for the circulatory system.
6. Identify microorganisms and define their disease processes.
7. Prepare the patient and assist during a minor surgical procedure.
8. Demonstrate how to set up and assist with a physical examination.



Unit exams. Skill Check-offs on all AAMAE required competencies in the physician’s office setting.
Competencies are aligned and validated by industry (advisory committees) according to job tasks/requirements for MA positions. This course is aligned with CRB-AAMAE entry-level competencies for the Medical Assistant.
