In this course, instruction and laboratory exercises detailing contact lens types and their appropriate wear and care regimens will be covered. Instruction and laboratory exercises designed to provide student with basic understanding of spectacle lens fabricating, adjusting and dispensing will be covered in the course.

Contact Lens Types
1. Demonstrate understanding of basic soft contact lens types.
2. Demonstrate understanding of soft contact lens materials.
3. Demonstrate understanding of basic rigid gas permeable contact lenses.
4. Demonstrate understanding of rigid gas permeable lens materials.
5. Demonstrate understanding of spherical contact lenses.
6. Demonstrate understanding of toric contact lenses.
7. Demonstrate understanding of bifocal contact lenses.


Contact Lens Wear and Care Regimens
1. Describe wear schedules appropriate to each type of contact lens.
2. Demonstrate proficiency in care regimens appropriate to each type of contact lens.
3. Demonstrate proficiency in contact lens insertion and removal.


Spectacle Lens Fabrication
1. Describe the steps in the fabrication process.
2. Define basic lab safety guidelines.
3. Demonstrate proficiency in the fabrication process.


Spectacle Adjusting and Dispensing of Lenses
1. Define the box measurement as it applies the spectacle frame.
2. Define terms associated with frame adjustment.
3. Define terms related to frame selection.
4. Demonstrate proficiency in frame adjustment.
5. Demonstrate proficiency in frame repair
