In this course students will be presented an overview of the major body systems with emphasis placed on the interaction between these systems and ocular anatomy and physiology as well as incorporating basic medical terminology.

1. Demonstrate Knowledge of Ocular Surface Anatomy

-Identify the major landmarks of the ocular system surface anatomy.
-Describe the functions of these structures.
-Identify the muscles in this region.
-Describe blood supply to the surface structures.

2. Demonstrate Knowledge of the Anterior Segment
-Identify the composition and function of the tear film.
-Identify the five layers of the cornea.
-Describe the composition of each layer.
-Describe the function of the cornea.
- dentify the structures of the uveal tract.
-Describe functions of each structure.
-Describe the anterior chamber and its associated function.
-Identify the crystalline lens.
-Describe the composition and function of the lens.
-Describe the concept of intraocular pressure.

3. Demonstrate Knowledge of the Posterior Segment

-Identify the composition and function of the vitreous.
-Identify the structure and function of the retina.
-Identify the structure and function of the optic nerve.
-Identify the structure and function of the visual pathway.
-Identify the concept of accommodation.
-Describe the concept of color vision.

4. Demonstrate Knowledge of the Extraocular Muscles

-Identify the six extraocular muscles.
-Identify the primary action of each muscle.
-Describe the concept of fixation.
-Describe the coordination of both eyes teaming together.
-Describe binocular vision.
-Describe the visual field of the eyes.
-Describe fusion.
-Identify and describe types of eye movements.
-Identify ocular alignment disorders.
-Describe stereopsis and depth perception.
