Presentation of the most common ocular abnormalities and disease processes and how they are related to systemic disease will be included in this course. In addition, this course will include presentation of the most common ophthalmic medications and their purpose as well as systemic medications used in the treatment of ocular abnormalities.

1. Demonstrate Knowledge of Ocular Disease and the Appropriate Relationship to Systemic Disease

-Define basic terms related to ocular disease.
-Define the more common ocular diseases.
-Describe the interaction between ocular diseases and the body.
-Describe the clinical signs indicating disease.

2. Identify Ophthalmic Medications and Each Purpose

-Identify each class of medications by the corresponding cap color.
-Describe the purpose or mechanism of action of ophthalmic medications.

3. Demonstrate Knowledge of Systemic Medications Used in Ophthalmic Practice

-Identify systemic medications used for treatment of ocular abnormalities.
-Describe the purpose of systemic medications used in treatment of ocular disease.
