Professional Standards Legal and Ethical Issues in Massage Therapy
In this course, the student will identify credentialing requirements in their state and local area and discuss common legal and ethical issues in massage therapy.

1. Maintain professional boundaries while responding to client's emotional needs.
2. Develop client interviewing techniques.
3. Demonstrate communication with other health professionals.
4. Identify when to refer clients to other health professionals.
5. Practice appropriate verbal and nonverbal communication skills.
6. Research NCBTMB Code of Ethics and Standards of Practice.
7. Analyze scenarios for Code of Ethics and Standards of Practice violations.
8. Identify potential issues that may cause a breach in confidentiality.
9. Identify legal and ethical parameters within scope of practice.
10. Identify basic psychological and physical dynamics of practitioner/
client relationship.
