This course introduces students to manual analysis of blood, including ABO typing, hematocrit, CBC, DLC, hemoglobin, and urinalysis including physical characteristics, chemical characteristics of Multistix 7, and microscopic identification of urine solids. A microbiology unit is completed including preparation of agar, inoculation of plates, incubation, description of colonies and heat fixing. Gram staining and identification of bacteria morphology are also covered.
