Course Information
Principles of Visual Communication
This course explores the principles of design and challenges students to produce creative solutions for presenting information to a target audience. Students will participate in activities that will expose them to a variety of communication modes that will be used to effectively deliver a visual message. Students will develop interactive multimedia communications and print communications.

� Be able to plan, organize and develop attractive visual aids based on the target audience.

� Identify and demonstrate the principles of visual communication.

� Be able to discuss theories and principles of effective visual communications.

� Be able to convey ideas and information in visual forms.

� Present information through visual form to large or small groups.

� Manipulate photos, graphics and text in software.

� Present text, pictures, diagrams, photos, etc., integrated on a computer display.

� Develop presentations, videos, websites, posters, brochures, etc. to convey a visual message.

� Consider constructive feedback as it applies to the development of visual communications.

� Revise visual project solutions based on constructive feedback relative to the development of visual communications.

� Experiment with the creative process in the development of visual project solutions.

� Employ knowledge of visual communication through the completion of problem-based projects.

� Create visual messages with text that have the power to inform, educate and persuade.

� Create effective visual presentations to support oral presentations.

� Design and create original work.

� Be knowledgeable about legal ramifications of plagiarizing visual designs.

The student will be graded on satisfactory completion of the learning activities, assignments, and project work designed around the knowledge and skills described above.
