Hybrid Vehicle Transmissions, Transaxles and Drivelines

This course will teach students about the most complex component in the vehicle’s drive train – the transmission. Manual and automatic transmissions will be explained, with emphasis on the continuously variable transmission (CVT), which is used extensively in hybrid applications. Students will also learn to identify and compare the construction and operation of the leading hybrid manufacturers’ transmissions: Honda, Toyota and Ford.
