This course provides students with additional information about the fundamental knowledge and responsibilities of EMS systems, medical and legal considerations, communications, common medical terminology, airway management and ventilation, and shock management.

Successful completion of basic EMT courses.

1. Identify the roles and responsibilities of the Intermediate EMT.

2. Discuss the components of the EMT systems.

3. Identify medical terminology common to emergency medicine, medical/legal considerations and communications.

4. Demonstrate advanced skills in airway management.

5. Demonstrate the management of shock and IV therapy.

6. Demonstrate patient assessment and management using advanced skills.
