Graphic Arts Internship

This course is designed to give students an opportunity for on-site training and reinforcement to skills previous learned in the educational process. Utilizing a cooperative agreement between industry and education, this course is laid out to assist the employee and employer on aligning the needs. All work is to be performed in accordance with industry standards and guidelines and will be supervised by industry and school representatives.

OBJECTIVES: Upon completion of this course, the student should be able to:
• Complete cooperative agreement
• Develop worksite experiences with an employer.

 Potential Employers
 Job Opportunities
 Industry Tours/Industry Shadowing

The cooperating employer, teacher and student will determine technical content.
For the purpose of evaluation, points will be earned in the following areas; weighted by percentages shown:
A. Daily Grade 40%
B. Assignments 40%
C. Tests 10%
D. Final Test 10%




Grading scale to be used:
90-100% = A
80- 89% = B
70- 79% = C
60- 69% = D
Below 69% = F
No Grade = NG
Incomplete = I
Withdraw = W

Students will be kept informed of their grades. Any student should inquire of the course instructor if they do not understand or agree with points given.

Daily grading method: The purpose of the daily grade is to determine and develop a student's attitude toward the "world of work". A dependable employee would be expected to be at work, on time, everyday and to perform daily tasks to the best of their ability. If a student is tardy they will be able to earn no higher than 80% of their possible grade. If a student is absent they will receive a zero for the day they are absent. Because this is a daily grade a student must be present to perform the tasks for that day. Daily grades cannot be made up.

Each daily grade is worth 20 points which is broken down into the following scale:
• Attitude (20%),
• Time on Task (20%),
• Quality of Work (30%),
• Speed (10%).
• Attendance (20%)

Assignments: Written and performance assignments will be given weekly. These assignments will give students the opportunity to practice the skills without the pressure of a test. If a student is absent, they must notify the instructor when they would like to make up the assignment. All assignments must be completed within one week of absence.

Tests: Written tests will be given over every major area. Tests will be given weekly. Tests can be made up within one week from day of absence.

Each student will participate in a pre-test and a post-test to measure competency gains.
