Electronic Health Records I
Students learn to manage electronic health information using common electronic data interchange systems. Through classroom and computer lab training students acquire the skills necessary to maintain the medical, legal, accreditation and regulatory requirements of the electronic health record and database; project management and fundamentals of change.

1.0 Demonstrate knowledge of the health care delivery system and medical terminology.
1.1 Use common medical terminology.
1.2 Identify the health care providers in hospitals and clinics.
2.0 Demonstrate an understanding of the transition to an Electronic Health Record (EHR).
2.1 Demonstrate the ability to enter live data into an EHR.
2.2 Identify the computer requirements for an EHR.
2.3 Demonstrate knowledge of the importance of clinical standards.
3.0 Demonstrate the ability to maintain an EHR within a physician’s office.
3.1 Demonstrate the ability to maintain patient flow within the office.
3.2 Utilize proper methods of coding and reimbursement in the EHR.
3.3 Demonstrate proper application of clinical information in the EHR.
4.0 Demonstrate the ability to maintain an EHR within a hospital setting.
4.1 Demonstrate knowledge of the computerized physician order entry.
4.2 Accurately maintain clinical documentation.
