Certified Massage Therapist
Anatomy and physiology and medical terminology are included in this career major. Students in this major will learn the credentialing requirements, common legal and ethical issues in massage therapy, and a variety of massage therapy techniques. They will also learn the basic principles of Eastern and Western medicine, alternative therapies, pharmacology, the relationship between basic principles of kinesiology and each body system as it relates to massage therapy. Additionally, the student is provided the opportunity to use the theory in practical clinical experiences. Students will need to be certified as massage therapists by the National Certification Board for Therapeutic Massage and Bodywork.
