Technology Center Administrator Credential

Thank you for your interest in applying for a Technology Center Administrator Credential issued by the Oklahoma Department of Career and Technology Education.

New rules for the Technology Center Administrator Credential have been approved by the State Board of Career and Technology Education.

Application Process

To apply for a Technology Center Administrator Credential, send or email the following information to the contact shown below:

  • Signed & completed application for technology center administrator credential.

  • Copy of current teaching/administrator certificate(s).

  • Copy of all official transcripts (undergraduate and graduate).

  • Current resume, including all work experience.

  • If applying for a provisional with three years of work experience from a technology center or ODCTE, please include a letter of endorsement from either an Oklahoma technology center superintendent or the Oklahoma Department of Career and Technology Education's state director, as applicable.
You will receive a Technology Center Administrator Credential Plan listing the next steps toward obtaining your credential or listing what steps must be taken before you are eligible for the credential. If a provisional credential is issued, you and your administrator must sign the Technology Center Administrator Credential Plan within 10 working days of receipt. 

Guidelines

Standard Credential

To receive a standard credential, you must meet the following criteria:

  • Valid administrator’s certificate (secondary principal or superintendent) issued by the Oklahoma State Department of Education.
  • Five years of experience as a teacher, administrator or supervisor of approved ODCTE career major(s)/program(s).
  • Valid Oklahoma CareerTech teaching certificate.
Five Year Provisional Credential

To receive a provisional credential, you must meet the following criteria:

  • Valid administrator’s certificate (secondary principal or superintendent) issued by the Oklahoma State Department of Education.
 In addition, you must meet at least one of the following experience requirements:
  • Three years of experience as a career and technology education teacher of approved ODCTE career major(s)/program(s).
  • Three years of experience as an administrator supervising and evaluating teachers of approved ODCTE career major(s)/program(s).
  • Three years of work experience in an Oklahoma technology center and a letter of endorsement from the current technology center superintendent.
  • Three years of experience at the Oklahoma Department of Career and Technology Education and a letter of endorsement from the current ODCTE state director.

If a Provisional Technology Center Administrator Credential lapses without the requirements being met, you can reapply after one year from the expiration date listed on your credential. You will still have to meet the current requirements listed on your Technology Center Administrator Credential Plan.

Technology Center Administrator Credential Plan

Applicants have five years from the date that their provisional credentials are issued to complete their Technology Center Administrator Credential Plans. Based on the applicants' previous coursework, a maximum of nine college semester hours and/or 135 ODCTE approved professional development clock hours from the following areas are required to complete their credential plans:

  • History and Philosophy of Career and Technology Education.
  • Technology Center Finance.
  • Career and Technology Education Curriculum.
  • Career and Technology Education Program Planning and Development.

College semester coursework from the four areas will be recognized as long as a degree was conferred. If a degree has not been conferred, courses within the last 10 years will be accepted.

Approved ODCTE professional development hours from the four areas listed will be accepted if the hours were completed after September 11, 2016, and are allowable per the applicant's approved credential plan.
