HCE Email #7—4.13.20

Here is hoping everyone had a blessed Easter holiday and you and yours are still safe!

Did You Know……that the average woman can only stand having her husband around her 2.5 hours per day?  So, if you’re at home…..all the time……with the dogs, kids and spouse…….beware what the pandemic can do to your relationship!!!  https://www.psychologytoday.com/us/blog/the-discomfort-zone/202004/will-coronavirus-infect-your-marriage  This great article gives advice on how to avoid killing that person whose little habits you thought you could live with, and now are finding to be deal-breakers!   And now on to the REAL news!

1.       FYI: When you click on a link that comes from ODCTE (extra security for the State of Oklahoma), the link may not open immediately and appear to be a bad link. You will need to go the web address at the top and take out the words “no click_” for it to open.

2.       OHCETA met last week and we had an excellent turn-out.  Thanks to all the officers and programmatic members at large.  Fantastic updates were given about what’s going on in most professions and we started planning summer conference.

3.       You should be hearing from your programmatic person very soon.  I’ve put together email groupings with everyone who teaches a specialty (Rad Tech, Respiratory, PN, HCC/Core, Long Term Care, EMS, Dental Assist, Medical Assist and others).  This list has been sent to your programmatic chair so you should be expecting an email from them soon.  I would love to set up a zoom meeting for each occupational area as needed.  For example, the PN Directors meet every Wednesday at 1pm and the discussion has been fantastic.  Lots of sharing ideas and resources pertinent to your area.

4.       Upcoming Meetings/Dates to Remember:

  • Ok Healthcare Workforce Center Simulation Conference May 21—CANCELLED
  • Health Careers Education Boot Camp, May 4-5—CANCELLED
  • LTC Train the Trainer Workshop, June 3, 2020—Changed to Virtual Conference- no charge
  • HOSA ILC, June 24-27, 2020 Houston, TX---Changed to Virtual Conference
  • HCE New Teacher Training, July 8-10, 2020—Changed to Virtual Conference
  • Oklahoma Summit (aka summer Conference)—No news as of today.  Meeting to be held Wednesday for discussion of options.

5.       All documents that are emailed out, are also put on our webpage under Health Careers Education and our ctyou.org course under COVID-19 Resources.

Stay tough and stay home!  Your Health Careers Education Staff are here for you anytime you need us!  Be sure and reach out—even if it’s just to say hi!  We miss you!
