Larry Capps attended Gordon Cooper Technology Center in Shawnee before earning an associate degree at OSU-IT. He is now shop manager at Fowler Toyota, a dealership that donated a Toyota Corolla to Moore Norman Technology Center earlier this year in conjunction with Gulf States Toyota.

Journal Record names Wes Watkins instructor a Health Care Hero

JR Polzien, an instructor at Wes Watkins Technology Center, will be among 56 people honored at The Journal Record’s Health Care Heroes event in March.

The event will be March 6 at the Embassy Suites Oklahoma City Downtown/Medical Center. Tickets are on sale until Feb. 28.

Online professional development available for educators

CareerTech Master EducatorOklahoma CareerTech is excited to introduce professional development that fits educators’ schedules and needs.

CareerTech’s Master Educator is an online professional development management system designed to inspire continuous learning through a variety of online courses while also giving individuals the opportunity to track and manage their personal professional development. Course topics range from instructional strategies and classroom management to coaching skills and avoiding burnout. We also have more than 7,000 courses from LinkedIn Learning.

Educators can earn professional development hours that may assist with certification and enhance their professional abilities.

CareerTech Teacher Academy set in Tulsa

Topics at the CareerTech Teacher Academy at Tulsa Technology Center‘s Owasso Campus on Jan. 28 will include technology, instructional strategies, classroom management, instructional planning, legal issues in education and information on CTSOs.

Registration is $35 per participant and includes a continental breakfast and lunch. Registration will close Jan. 21. For more information or to make meal or other accommodations, contact Deborah Swafford at deborah.swafford@careertech.ok.gov.
