OATC Partners for Progress highlight: LafargeHolcim partners with Pontotoc Technology Center

Pontotoc Technology Center named LafargeHolcim its 2019 Partner for Progress.

LafargeHolcim, which operates a cement plant in Ada, is known for providing volunteers and resources for numerous projects in the community. It has partnered with Pontotoc Tech for high-level management training and team-building programs.

In addition, Pontotoc Tech has worked with the company to provide regional training for maintenance and engineering personnel in hydraulics, pumps, welding and other technical training areas.

Pontotoc Tech and LafargeHolcim work together to advance economic development while emphasizing responsible ecological issues.

 

CareerTech construction educator making a difference for students

Oklahoma CareerTech Skills Center students at Cedar Canyon Adventure Program recently made 84 oak plaques for the Heartland Cruise Car Show.

Cedar Canyon Skills Center construction technology instructor Keith Musick told the Weatherford Daily News that the program changes lives and prepares the students for life outside Cedar Canyon. The juvenile housing facility is an affiliate of the Oklahoma Office of Juvenile Affairs.

Musick told the newspaper he was surprised by how rewarding his job is and that his students “take ownership and pride in what they do, and most of them figure out they have skills they never knew they had.”

The Weatherford Daily News reported that classic cars from the car show were driven to Cedar Canyon Adventure Program so the students who made the plaques could see the cars.

 

Caddo Kiowa Technology Center receives donation from PSO

CKTC’s program is a 3-star child care facility and a training program for students learning to become licensed teachers in early care facilities.

Rose State, Metro Tech form aerospace partnership

A partnership between Metro Technology Centers and Rose State College was recently highlighted in an article in The Journal Record.

The two educational entities are partnering to increase the number of people entering Oklahoma’s aerospace industry. Students who attend Metro Tech for a Federal Aviation Administration airframe and power plant certification will receive credit toward an associate degree at Rose State.
