Virtual OEIP to highlight wind energy industry

Participants in the Oklahoma Education and Industry Partnerships virtual event this month will learn about jobs in the wind energy industry.

Through the virtual event, CareerTech is connecting educators to the wind energy industry so they can help prepare students for interesting, high-demand and high-wage careers.

OEIP’s mission is to create a pipeline for partnerships among educators, counselors, administrators, partners, students, industry leaders, government policymakers and members of the economic development community.

The OEIP virtual session will begin at 11 a.m. Oct. 21.

Oklahoma SkillsUSA members meet in virtual conference

Members of Oklahoma SkillsUSA will meet Oct. 22 for a virtual Fall Leadership Conference.

They will have the opportunity during the conference to participate in several leadership breakout sessions and hear from the keynote speaker.

CareerTech System represented in NextGen under 30 awards

Four people in the Oklahoma CareerTech System, including an ODCTE employee, are among more than 350 people selected as NextGen under 30 Award winners.

Receiving awards are Trevor Lucas, Oklahoma FFA adviser, ODCTE; Jessie Parker, Metro Technology Centers; Melyssa Lynch, Kiamichi Technology Centers; and Robby Branscum, agricultural education instructor, Stillwater Public Schools.

NextGen under 30 Oklahoma is intended to honor individuals who demonstrate talent, drive and service to their communities, according to its website.

 

Southern Tech unveils innovation lab

Southern Technology Center in Ardmore recently opened an innovation lab that allows students and members of the public to build and create with 3D printers, a composite printer, a laser engraver and two virtual reality computers.

Innovation Lab Lead Anthony Bilyeu told The Daily Ardmoreite that the lab is intended to give students and members of the public access to cutting edge technology. The lab opened to the public on Oct. 1.
