CareerTech Champion: Section 37 Surveying and Mapping – Red River Technology Center

Marcus Heilman and Tyler Matthesen of Section 37 Surveying and Mapping stand next to a company truck.THEN: Marcus Heilman and Tyler Matthesen didn’t have much experience starting or running a company, but they had marketable skills in the Duncan, Oklahoma, area. In December 2017, the owners of Section 37 Surveying and Mapping contacted Red River Technology Center’s business and industry services staff for help getting their business going.

Red River Tech Center helped the Section 37 owners create a business plan and a strategy for their company. They offered training aimed at keeping the business going and growing.

Marcus said Red River Tech gave them peace of mind, allowing them to focus on surveying and not “fret about the business.” During the two years they have partnered with Red River Tech, Marcus and Tyler

  • Attended local workshops such as Grow with Google, New Business Taxes and Branding.
  • Participated in Red River Tech’s small business roundtable discussions.
  • Increased revenues; total invoices for 2019 more than doubled their billing in 2018.

NOW: “Land surveying comes easy for us,” Marcus said. “It’s comforting to have people of high integrity and professionalism a phone call away.”
