Teaching is the one profession that creates all other professions. -- UnknownIt’s National Teacher Appreciation Week, and we want to say thank you to all of our teachers. The work you do on a daily basis has everlasting impact for students and our state.

Through our current situation, you have continued to deliver instruction and meals and be a positive support for communities across Oklahoma. You are making a difference each and every day.

Thank you for choosing to be a teacher and positively shaping future generations.

 

Oklahoma FCCLA celebrates online

Oklahoma FCCLA celebrate the 2019-20 year with an online showcase.

In addition to announcing STAR Event winners, Oklahoma FCCLA announced other awards, which are listed in the convention program on its website, and national winners. It will honor national recipients in upcoming social media posts, said state adviser Denise Morris.

Morris was also one of five Oklahomans named to the National FCCLA Hall of Fame. Also named were Rhonda Paul Ashburn, Paula Tripp, Lesa Foster and Karin Davis.

Oklahoma TSA honors members online

The Oklahoma Technology Student Association announced scholarship and leadership degree recipients in an online ceremony.

The organization also honored inductees to the technology honor society and announced the 2020-21 officer team.

CareerTech Horizon highlights building tomorrow’s leaders

The fourth episode of the CareerTech Horizon podcast will showcase how Oklahoma CareerTech builds tomorrow’s leaders.

What does it take to be a leader?

In this episode, host Blane Singletary dives into seven student organizations centered around technology education and the major benefits they provide to their members.

The podcast talks with the leaders of those organizations to find out how they see their roles within their teams evolve over time and their reasons for becoming CareerTech students.

Centers of Workforce Excellence application now available

Designation of a local Center of Workforce Excellence serves as official recognition of Oklahoma communities’ hard work to build a comprehensive workforce development system that responds to local and state demand.

The Centers of Workforce Excellence system is an effort by Oklahoma Works Together to develop the economy statewide. The designation provides benefits to business and industry, students, taxpayers, educators and community leaders.

Tech centers continue giving back

Western Technology Center has provided PPE masks and goggles to hospitals, nursing homes and emergency medical services in its communities. Its pre-engineering program printed face shield bands and face mask straps for a hospital in Clinton and donated straps to medical staff in Colorado, Oklahoma, Arizona and Kansas.

In addition, members of the Biomedical Academy made more than 200 masks for students working as essential employees in grocery stores, pharmacies, restaurants and farm supply stores, and quilting class students made more than 1,300 masks at home and gave them to friends, neighbors, families and hospitals, nursing homes and businesses in western Oklahoma.

Western Tech provided drive-through testing sites in Burns Flat and Hobart and donated refrigerated items to Burns Flat-Dill City Public Schools lunch program and dry goods to Cordell Memorial Hospital.
