CORONAVIRUS (COVID-19) RESOURCES

The safety and security of our students, educators, staff and stakeholders is a top priority.  The Oklahoma Department of Career and Technology Education is closely monitoring the current coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic. This is an evolving situation.  ODCTE will provide updated information as it becomes available. We are following the guidance of the Oklahoma State Health Department and Center for Disease Control. ODCTE will continue to monitor the situation based on the OSHD, CDC, state government, the federal government and other sources.  Be sure to regularly check your e-mail, social media channels and website for any updates.  Should any of the guidance change, ODCTE will act accordingly and immediately to provide updates through all communication channels.

Centers for Disease Control and Prevention

The CDC recommends the following for prevention and treatment:

  • Avoid close contact with people who are sick.
  • Avoid touching your eyes, nose, and mouth.
  • Stay home when you are sick.
  • Cover your cough or sneeze with a tissue, then throw the tissue in the trash.
  • Clean and disinfect frequently touched objects and surfaces using a regular household cleaning spray or wipe.
  • Wash your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds, especially after going to the bathroom; before eating; and after blowing your nose, coughing, or sneezing. If soap and water are not readily available, use an alcohol-based hand sanitizer with at least 60% alcohol. Always wash hands with soap and water if hands are visibly dirty.
  • Follow CDC’s recommendations for using face coverings.
    • CDC recommends the use of a cloth face covering to slow the spread of the virus and help people who may have the virus and do not know it from transmitting it to others. Those cloth face coverings should be cleaned regularly.
    • Face masks should be used by people who show symptoms of COVID-19 to help prevent the spread of the disease to others. The use of face masks is also crucial for health workers and people who are taking care of someone in close settings (at home or in a health care facility).
