Stop the Bullying - Start a Movement
Jeremiah Bias and Matthew Sheppard, Eastern Oklahoma County Technology Center's Video Production Team, earned the highest of honors at the 2012 National BPA Conference held in Chicago for their portrayal of the realities of bullying.
The team was challenged with creating a three to five minute video titled “Stop the Bullying, Start a Movement.” The short film chronicles the life of a young lady, who ultimately ends her life as a result of bullying.
Though the story is a work of fiction, the power behind the message rings true in families around the world. The closing sequence shows the alarming statistics of 1 in every 7 students are victims of bullying. That is a staggering 7,716,600 students in the U.S. alone that are affected by bullies.
Bias and Sheppard provide a powerful look into what many young people deal with on a daily basis.
