HOSA Email #7

Good Morning,

Testing is done---scores are downloaded----printing scantrons has started! 
A few reminders as this point----(well---maybe more than just a few!)

1. Online testing advancers to Round 2 will be posted on the OK HOSA website by Wednesday, March 15

2. The following information is now on the OK HOSA App:

3. ALL registered conference attendees must complete a Code of Conduct and Medical Liability form.  Advisors MUST submit a copy of these two forms per conference attendee at conference registration.  These forms are on the OK HOSA website under State Leadership Conference.  Please submit these forms in a manila envelope with your school name and advisor name on the outside.
4. All participants in Life Support Skills, Personal Care, Interviewing Skills, and Speaking Skill MUST bring a copy of the Student Eligibility form (found on the last page of the event guidelines) to their event orientation.

5. Round 2 Advancers for Health Career Display, Health Career Photography, Public Health, and Public Service Announcement will be posted on the OK HOSA App on Monday, April 3.

6. March 20th is the deadline for the following:
    a.  STEM Premier submission for
    • Job Seeking Skills
    • Researched Persuasive Writing and Speaking
    • Clinical Specialty
    • Health Career Photography
    • Public Service Announcement
    • MRC Partnership

    b.  Barbara James Service Award to be recognition at OK SLC
    c.  National Service Project donation amounts to be recognized at OK SLC
    d.  MRC Volunteer hours to be recognized at OK SLC
    e. OK HOSA Scholarship
    f.  GOLD, SILVER, BRONZE STAR Chapter Applicatio

7.  The State Officers have been planning some great activitiesfor conference attendees.  Please encourage your students to participate!

    • Zumba
    • NAMI Walk (registration deadline to guarantee proper t shirt size is MARCH 22!
    • Service Project Opportunities (Monday, 1pm-4pm)
    • Movies
    • BINGO
    • Photo Booth
    • OBI Blood Drive (under 17 permission form link)
    • Silent Auction
    • Popsicle Sales (FREEZE THE MENTAL ILLNESS STIGMA)
    • Game Room (Tuesday, 10am-4pm)
    • Hypnosis Show (Monday, 9:30 pm)

8.  Silent Auction items/baskets—We are asking all chapters to donate an item/basket to the silent auction.  Please bring your item to conference registration.

9.  NICE Jeans at Opening Session---you and your students may wear NICE jeans along with their conference polo to Monday Opening Session by donating $1 each person.  Please submit the $1 donation at conference registration.

10. OK HOSA Conference Dress code---Oklahoma HOSA conference/competitive dress code is posted on the OK HOSA website.  The Dress Code on the event guidelines is for ILC not OK SLC.  Please refer to the Oklahoma HOSA website under State Leadership Conference for the OK HOSA SLC Dress Code.

11. The HOSA Store will be open on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday.  We have the ability to accept credit/debit cards this year so please encourage your students to visit the HOSA Store.

12. HOSA BUCKS-all conference attendees will be given $3 HOSA Bucks.  These HOSA Bucks can be used at the concession stand, North Park Grille or Caffeina’s on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday.

13. Students are need for timers, patients, etc.  If you have students needing something to do, please let me know their name and when they are available.

    • Monday---12:30pm-4pm OR 5:00pm-9:00pm
    • Tuesday---8am-12noon OR  1:30pm-4pm

14. Student substitutions---conference registered students can only be added to an existing team and must be willing to be taken out of their original event.  If you know of substitutions prior to conference, please send me the following information:

    • Student name
    • Chapter #
    • Event to be taken out of
    • Team to be added to
15. Conference Registration volunteers needed---if you are available to help with conference registration on Sunday (7:15pm-8:30pm) and/or Monday (7:45am-9am), please contact Rhonda Foote at rhonda.foote@careertech.ok.gov
16. Judges NEEDED--There are still events that need judges.  If I don’t fill all the judges slots, then the events will run longer and the students and advisors will probably not be happy with having a longer wait to compete.  So, please contact me if you have not confirmed helping with an event.
